Screen Marketing and Discoverability Program
The Screen Marketing and Discoverability (SMD) Program is designed to increase audiences (players, users, viewers, etc.) and revenues for screen content projects that received Production investments from Ontario Creates.

Funding Available
Linear Content (Film Fund, IDM Fund – Linear, IP Fund – Linear)
- Non-repayable contribution of up to 75% of eligible expenses
- $5,000 – minimum request
- $25,000 – maximum request
Interactive Content (IDM Fund – Non-Linear, IP Fund – Interactive)
- Non-repayable contribution of up to 75% of eligible expenses
- $15,000 – minimum request
- $50,000 – maximum request

Application Process
Before submitting an application, applicants must provide an update on the status of their Production project by sending an Applicant Inquiry from their project page in the OAP. The applicant must receive approval to apply from their Program Consultant.
- Applications must be submitted via the Ontario Creates Online Application Portal (OAP).
- Applicants are strongly encouraged to start the application process well in advance of the deadline in case technical support is required.
- Prior to starting an application, your company’s corporate information must be registered with the OAP. If your company is not registered, visit https://apply.ontariocreates.ca and select “Register”. If your company is registered, the Ontario Creates IP Fund deadline will appear in your dashboard.
- To start an application, select “Start New Application” and follow the directions to access the application form.
- If you encounter problems setting up your company’s corporate information, email applyhelp@ontariocreates.ca for assistance. This email address can also be used for any technical questions about the OAP.
