What types of online platforms are acceptable for productions made available online or productions made available by alternative means?
OPSTC - August 24, 2023 Regulatory Amendments
For productions where principal photography began on or after November 1, 2022, the regulations do not restrict eligibility to specific types of online platform. Acceptable online platforms include subscription-based video-on-demand (SVOD), advertising-based video-on-demand (AVOD), free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST), hybrid video-on-demand (HVOD), transactional video-on-demand (TVOD), or other models, as long as the platform makes film or television productions commercially available for viewing by the public via download or streaming.
Please note that for productions where principal photography began before November 1, 2022, productions that are exhibited online are only eligible for the OPSTC where the end user pays a purchase, license or subscription fee to access the content.
