Ottawa Animation Festival 2025

The Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) took place Sept. 24-28 and brought together the International animation community for five days of screenings, workshops, networking and events. OIAF 2025 attracted over 27,000 attendees and showcased 206 films in 63 screenings, making it one of the world’s premier animation events. With 234 Fast Track meetings, 22 networking events, and 36% of passholders coming from outside Canada, OIAF delivers unmatched global access and deal-making opportunities in animation’s creative and business circles.

The Institut français du Canada with the French Embassy of Canada partnered with OIAF to host the "Canada x France: Animation Co-productions in Action" panel, moderated by Sandrine Pechels de Saint Sardos, CEO and Film Commissioner of the Ottawa Film Office who was joined by animation leaders from Special Touch Studios, Copernicus Studios, Gaumont, Productions Ocho and Yzanakio, and Zephyr Animation. Focusing on the audiovisual co-production agreement between France and Canada, the panel explored both challenges and opportunities, highlighting the pivotal role of animation in each country’s industry. The discussion opened new avenues for Franco-Canadian collaboration in film and media.

The festival will be back next year to celebrate its 50th anniversary on Sept. 23-26, 2026.
