Ontario Creates Industry Development Program provides support to Ontario’s established trade and event organizations to offer initiatives, events and activities with long-term impacts on growth and sustainability in the book, magazine, film, television, and interactive digital media sectors.

NEW: There are two program streams, Business Development and Capacity Building. Proposed activities must meet the eligibility criteria for one of these streams. The program has three deadlines throughout the year.

Deadlines

March 1, 2018 by 5:00 pm: 

  • for activities commencing April 1, 2018 to August 31, 2018

July 3, 2018 by 5:00 pm: 

  • for activities commencing August 1, 2018 to December 31, 2018

November 1, 2018 by 5:00 pm: 

  • for activities commencing from December 1, 2018 to March 31, 2019

Program Streams

  1. Business Development – support to organizations for business to business (B2B) industry activities and business to consumer (B2C) audience development activities that offer opportunities for new business leads, sales and relationships.

  2. Capacity Building – support for strategic activities that address challenges and opportunities or environmental changes that contribute to either the capacity of the applicant organization or its stakeholder group.

Successful Industry Development Program applicants will receive funding for activities that expand skills, business capacity, market share, sales, and innovation. Activities must demonstrate the potential for measurable results for Ontario companies that create and sell content in the book, magazine, film, television, and interactive digital media sectors, and/or any combination of these sectors.

Application Process

Organizations planning to submit an application are required to contact the appropriate program consultant beforehand to discuss the eligibility of both the organization and the activity. Applications should be submitted by the deadline prior to the start date of the proposed activity. Single applications containing multiple activities can be made providing each activity commences within the appropriate timeframe for that deadline. An applicant organization may need to apply multiple times throughout the year depending on the commencement time of their activities. 

Late applications will not be considered for funding.  

  • Applications must be submitted via the Ontario Creates Online Application Portal (OAP). Applications submitted by any other method will not be accepted.
  • Before beginning an application, your company’s corporate information must be registered with the OAP. If you do not have a user account on OAP, please go to https://apply.omdc.on.ca and click on “Register”.
    If your company is registered, the Ontario Creates Industry Development Program deadline will appear in your dashboard. To start the application, click on “Start new application” and follow the onscreen directions to access the application form.
  • Applicants are encouraged to start the application process well in advance of the deadline in case technical support is required. If you encounter problems setting up your Company’s corporate information, you can email applyhelp@ontariocreates.ca for assistance. This email address can also be used for any technical questions you have about the OAP.
