Canadian Books in Ontario Schools
The Canadian Books in Ontario Schools Fund supports publishers in the creation of robust learning materials for established works of Canadian literature, and/or collective marketing activities that will ensure that educational professionals are aware of Canadian titles suitable for use in their classrooms.
Eligible projects should have well-documented and realistic results that have an impact on the visibility of Canadian literary works with Ontario educators.

The program has two streams. Eligible applicants may submit applications to one or both streams:
Supplementary Resources to Support Learning and Teaching Through the Curriculum (Individual Publisher): creation of supplementary resources to support learning and teaching through the curriculum for Canadian literature with a track record (demonstrable critical or commercial success); and
Marketing Projects (Group/Collective): projects must include a minimum of 3 eligible companies partnering together on the project, the applicant can also be a trade association; activities must raise awareness of the availability of teacher resource guides to educational professionals, and promote educational opportunities to use Canadian literature in the classroom.
Eligible applicants may apply for funding based on the following levels:
Supplementary Resources to Support Learning and Teaching Through the Curriculum (Individual Publisher): minimum $5000, maximum $15,000
Marketing Projects (Group/Collective): minimum $10,000, maximum $50,000

- Applications must be submitted via the Ontario Creates Online Application Portal (OAP). Applications submitted by any other method will not be accepted.
- Before beginning an application, your company’s corporate information must be registered with the OAP. If you do not have a user account on the OAP, please go to https://apply.omdc.on.ca and click on “Register”. If your company is registered, the Ontario Creates Canadian Books in Ontario Schools Fund deadline will appear in your dashboard. To start the application, click on “Start new application” and follow the onscreen directions to access the application form.
- Applicants are strongly encouraged to begin the application process early to allow ample time to compile and complete the necessary information. There is flexibility for completing the application form – you may begin at any time and save information as it is entered. Once saved, you can go back and edit and/or add information
untilthe time when the application is actually submitted.
